Charges Filed In Traffic Stop Drug Bust

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - A trio from Marinette have now been formally charged after a traffic stop led to a major heroin bust.
Initially, the three men (pictured above left to right), 35-year-old Benjamin Chaltry, 31-year-old Robert Rogers and 26-year-old Jacob Martin, were pulled over on I-43 Saturday night for infractions such as a missing front license plate and a passenger not wearing a seatbelt.
According to the criminal complaint, Deputy Barry Nelson was suspicious of the three based on their demeanors and had asked for permission to search the men and the vehicle. It was during the subsequent searches that he discovered heroin. When questioned, the men told Deputy Nelson they had driven to Chicago to purchase the drugs, returning with the heroin for personal use and for resale. The seized heroin has a street value of more than $10,000.
If convicted, Chaltry, Rogers and Martin are each looking at a maximum of 25 years in prison.
